bd4cp is a business development company specialising in the construction products market.

Established in 2009 by John Maclean and Andy Pack, bd4cp has been assisting construction products companies weather the storms of the Global Financial Crisis, deal with supply chain Issues resulting from Covid 19, face the challenges and opportunities of Brexit and implement plans to overcome cost pressures brought about by worldwide shortages of raw materials.

While most of these issues have been unprecedented many of the positive and negative outcomes that have arisen as a consequence of these events have been seen before and this is where bd4cp have been able to deliver value for many organisations that have worked with us over the years.

John and Andy each have over 40 years’ experience in construction products markets such as the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA. The result of having seen good times and bad times come and go over those four decades have given both Andy and John some unique insights into how to manage opportunities and take advantage of changing times to add value for the businesses they have managed and for the organisations they have advised.

Changing Trends

 While bd4cp does and has delivered success and value for many construction product businesses over the years it is because John and Andy have an eye on how opportunities change and evolve that has kept them interested and excited about the future. Over the past 3 to 4 years bd4cp has seen a growing trend in construction product companies who are looking to partner and collaborate with like-minded businesses from other parts of the world.

We are being contacted by a growing number of UK and European businesses looking for new markets to explore. The desire and opportunity to build alliances with innovative companies and to consider products from other parts of the world has never been greater in our opinion.

With many contacts from different markets around the world we are often asked if we know someone or an organisation which might be interested in a specialist construction product as a distributor, licensee, customer or end user.

Similarly, we are regularly approached by construction products firms who are looking to expand and differentiate their product range by investigating proven and tested products from other territories.

What we do

On a more regular basis we are acting as confidential intermediaries between organisations looking for partners in new territories and by innovators with new construction products who are looking for established successful construction products businesses to partner with in new markets.

Our background in international construction products and experience of product licensing, technology transfer and co-operative branding allows us to bring together potential long term international collaborators in an objective and practical way without any competition concerns.

Our role is always low profile and below the radar allowing the relationship to develop between the ongoing partners rather than via bd4cp. We are only involved for as long as needed or as long as there is value in us being part of the conversation.

Our base

bd4cp is based in the UK with an excellent network of contacts across mainland Europe.

As a result of increasing interest in the UK and European market from construction product companies in Australia and New Zealand over the past 2 to 3 years we are in the process of establishing a base in New South Wales. With post Brexit trade deals now in place between the UK and Australia and New Zealand the levels of interest in co-operation are gathering momentum.
